Breaking News: Calhoun to retire, ND is ACC Bound

Notre Dame is headed to the ACC

Woke up this morning to some..well lets just say, interesting news. Notre Dame is heading to the ACC for all sports except football. However, they will still play 5 ACC teams each season. Its a big move for the Irish and people are timing in on the move from all over not only the ACC and Big East but the entire nation. I personally am not a fan of the news though I've already become more welcoming as the day has progressed. This morning I was...well, honestly, ticked off about it, especially the fact that it does not involve football yet ND can still steal a bowl spot from the ACC and STILL play in the Orange Bowl against the ACC Champions. Another major announcement is that the ACC knocked up the exit fee to $50 Million....so those fans out there still thinking Clemson/FSU to the SEC can get that out of your head. It ain't happening. Details are still unfolding, so stay tuned to a more indepth look at the ACC's new school and what it means to not only Clemson, but the rest of the ACC as well.

Hall of Fame Coach Stepping Down

This afternoon news broke that UCONN Men's Head Basketball Coach, Jim Calhoun, is expected to announce his retirement-- effective immediately sometime tomorrow. The Hall of Fame coach led the Huskies to 3 National Championships. (1999,2004, 2011) The 70 year old is a cancer survivor and also is recovering from a fractured hip he suffered this summer. He just felt like this was a good time to step down and move on to the next chapter in life. Current Assistant coach Kevin Ollie will take over as head coach. Never been much of a fan of UCONN but hats off to Coach Calhoun on a great career and I wish him a happy and peaceful retirement!
